It went viral on social media, normally prostitution in Japan is something invisible, it’s hard to see, but here we have something surprising. This video shows line of call girls in street in Kabukicho, waiting for customers to pick them up.
Obviously we can’t confirm this, as it was a video made by one person and posted online with his explanation, but shall we see it?

There are certain areas, like Dogenzaka in Shibuya, where women end up standing up at night whispering the word “massage” to passing men. It is said that these girls are usually Chinese or older.
However, the video I circulate is strange, because it shows Japanese girls doing this line and waiting for customers, the area of the video is Okubo-Kabukicho in Shinjuku, an area with many motels and sexual services.
Isn’t it ironic this street is right outside a clinic, meaning they can do disease tests pretty quickly. Viewers of the above video reacted with shock, people commented that the women in the video look like merchandise in line waiting to be picked up.
Others think these women are there to get quick cash to cover host addiction or college tuition. Young Japanese women often do this.
But there is a problem, the police lately have been threatening to arrest anyone who is part of prostitution, 240 women have already been caught by the police in the last 5 years, 80% were in the Okubo area.
